2022 Toddler Gift Guide

Thanksgiving is in just a few days, and so we know Christmas will creep up on us what will feel like out of nowhere! Black Friday is this week also. I usually try to do all of my shopping around then. Or Cyber Monday.

I wanted to share Zaya and Josh’s wish list for this year in case you’re out of gift ideas for the 2-5 year old in your life.

Whenever I’m thinking about gifts for my kids I aim for something that is open-ended. It’s inevitable that they’ll get other types of toys from family and friends, and that’s fine. But so much good can come from an open ended toy.

If you haven’t heard of this term before, the simplest explanation of it is that it’s pretty much a toy or object that can be played with alone or with other objects. Doesn’t need instructions. An example would be blocks or a train set.

I hope this list inspires you and your holiday shopping this year 😉

Zaya’s List

1. Wobble Balance Board | 2. Bath Bombs | 3. Board Game | 4. Books | 5. Doctor’s Coat | 6. Butterfly wings| 7. Silly Scissors | 8. Crinkle Cutter| 9. Apron

1. The Balance Board is not only great for your child to practice their balance, but it can be used for so many other things. Use it as a bridge, a hiding place, a tunnel, a racetrack. Whatever your child’s imagination can conjure up!

2. Zaya loves using bath bombs when she takes baths. ESPECIALLY if they have a little treat inside.

3. Someone recently bought Josh a Bingo game set. The 2 have enjoyed it so much that I thought there has to be a simple board game they could learn to play. So I why not Candy Land.

4. Zaya has a few books on her list. One of them is this book from the Mrs. Peanuckle’s series. Books are always a great gift!

5. Zaya’s been really into role playing. One of her favorites is being a Doctor. She has a Doctor tools set (another good gift idea). I figured we should finish the ensemble and add a coat.

6. When I asked Zaya what she wanted for Christmas she said she wanted real butterfly wings so she can fly. I thought 2 things. 1. That’s very creative. And 2. I can get wings to make her fly, but I can get her wings!

7. Zaya loves to cut up paper and so I thought these scissors would be fun. I used to love using these scissors as a kid. They’re perfect for crafting.

8. The Crinkle Cutter is another kitchen tool for Zaya to use. She loves to get in the kitchen with us and help cook. This was another tool I’ve had my eye on for some time.

9. The apron is for Zaya to get in the kitchen and cook. She says she wants to be a chef when she grows up. I want to encourage her little career dreams.

Josh’s List

1. Melissa and Doug Lace and Trace | 2. Firefighter costume | 3. Stepping Stones | 4. Bath Toy Boat | 5. Jenga | 6. Seek and Find Book | 7. Books | 8. Puzzles | 9. Measuring tape

1. Melissa and Doug have some of our most favorite toys. We’ve had our eyes on this one for a while. Great one for motor skills.

2. Again, encouraging that role play / use of imagination.

3. These Stepping Stone are so fun! Can be used to play the floor is lava. Practice their balancing. Let their creativity flow.

4. Josh loves taking baths and he loves bath toys. Hence, this awesome boat!

5. I wanted to find a board game or some other game that he could play with a partner and I found jenga. But then I found this kids version and loved it. It can be played in 4 different ways. I can’t wait to see him play with it.

6. We got the kids a different seek and find book before and Josh loved it! Instead of reading a book for bedtime, he would ask to do one of the pages.

7. Again, books are the best! I added this construction book because Josh loves naming all the construction vehicles.

8. Josh’s all time favorite thing to do is puzzles.

9. Josh and Zaya love playing with their dad’s measuring tape!!

Here’s a Tip: Create lists for each kid on your amazon account. Add the items onto the list that you’d like to get them. Whenever Family/Friends ask what your child wants as a gift you share the list. If they purchase from the list it’ll get removed and no one can buy the same gift.

This is my favorite feature on amazon. Comes in super handy for birthdays or holidays when everyone on both sides of the family want to know what your kid wants/needs!
