James’s First 100 Foods

With all of my kids I’ve pretty much did baby led weaning at 6 months old. I did not give them anything before that (not even puree). There were times that I spoon fed them, but they pretty much fed themselves 90% time. And of course they loved it because they were touching, grabbing, eating, and flinging food everywhere!

I’m not going to lie, it’s not for the faint of heart. I felt like I was cleaning all day long. I can say though that it had a great outcome as far as the kids being willing to eat a lot of different things. My kids will pretty much eat, or at least try, anything. I have to give my husband a lot of the credit when it comes to that, but I really do believe doing baby led weaning helped as well.

It all started with my first born. I was getting ready to start her on solids and had heard of baby led weaning. I then tried to find info on Instagram. Looking for someone who was doing it and looked like they knew what they were doing. I found this lady called Katie Ferraro. She did baby led weaning with her kids. Her goal was to introduce them to 100 foods by the time they turned 1. She turned it into a business and is thriving.

I never purchased her package. I just tried to follow her tips from watching her videos. Now she also has a podcast. She didn’t have it back when I first started following her. But anyway, she’s amazing. I’ve learned a lot in regards to food, what to look out for, allergies and so much more! Her website is babyledweaning.co. She gives her First 100 Foods list for free if you register to watch her Free Mini Course.

This is not an AD by the way. I really have loved following and learning from her the past few years. I hope it encourages you to do baby led weaning with your own kids!

Below I’ve listed the foods we were able to introduce to James starting at 6 months old. He’s a little bit of a pickier eater than my older 2. It sort of happened once he hit 1, which is normal. But he’s a wonderful eater. He loves to eat on his own. If you allow him to, he will eat all day long!
